Thank you my friends for your patience with me this past year. As you all know this pandemic has taken the wind out of all our sails, including mine. But what has been heavy on my heart was my mothers’ care.
Last September 2021 she was rushed to hospital with seizures and she barely escaped with her life back then thanks to the mismanagement of the hospital. After 12 days with no food and 3 days no water. They decided she could not longer eat or drink and sent her home to die.
Well God was on her side, and she ended up gaining strength at home and living another 132 days eating three meals a day. Thanks be to God. I learned to value each day as her last from that day on for which I’m truly grateful.
Then the day after her 81st birthday she began seizing again. As many of you know she had advanced dementia and has been living with us for 7 years. This time I got her home from hospital right away and so the last two weeks have been monitoring her care 24/7 and trying to stabilize her seizures.
When we could see she would not recover like before, I was praying she would at least die on Our Lady’s feast of the Purification. Since that would be a wonderful consolation that Our Lady would come to get her.
But when I seen she was still with us that day, I thought okay perhaps God has other plans… So whispered in her ear, that I loved her, that I will miss her (I couldn’t bear to let her go yet) and kissed her saying;
Jesus Mary Joseph, I love you save souls
Jesus Mary Joseph, assist me in my last agony
Jesus Mary Joseph, may I breath for my soul in peace with you.
Jesus, mercy
Jesus, Mercy
Jesus, Mercy
then I promised her that I would be back to say the rosary for her.
When I returned a half hour later, she had passed on. February 2, 2022
Death is such shock, no matter how well prepared you think you are… And it took me a moment or two to recover.
I am so grateful to have spent 7 long years carrying for her and for being there with her when she was in her last days. That she died so quietly and peacefully was a blessing like no other.
To know she died not only on Feast of the Purification, but also on Candlemas and also on Our Lady’s Wednesday is a great joy to my heart.
Please pray for the repose of her soul.
For anyone wondering where we have been now you know. I”m sorry about lack of contact and about books not sent…. I hope to get caught up soon.
Next I’d like to share about the gift she gave me the very next day.
May God bless and keep you,
